I'm Zac. Zac Hester. I was born and mostly raised in Rapid City, SD. I live here with my wife Shannon and my 2-year-old son, William. I'm currently employed in the web development arts for a group of radio stations. I have a B.S. in computer engineering from SD School of Mines and Technology.

For funsies, I enjoy outdoors-related things like running, cycling, rock/alpine climbing, backpacking, etc. I also spend a lot of time pursuing personal intellectual interests. Right now, I'm re-teaching myself college calculus (and finding out how much of a failure I was the first time 'round), and teaching myself the two major branches of modern physics (quantum theory and general relativity).

Although a lot of my interests are centered around fundamental natural laws, I'm a bit of a software geek. In the course of my engineering education and the last ten years of being employed to write some kind of software, I've become attached to the software engineering process. I really enjoy solving puzzles and tackling hard engineering problems on my own. I have a critical eye for optimized algorithms, and direct-path solutions.

My other geeky hobbies include embedded networked appliances, robotics (including Lego robotics), automation and control systems, AI modeling/programming, 3D modeling/animation, drawing, writing, playing the guitar, photography, and classic sci-fi movies and TV shows.
